The successful candidate will play an important role in the advancement of our current Physiocrine and antibody therapeutic product candidates into clinical development.

aTyr Pharma, Inc has a full-time opportunity in our growing IT department for a Systems Administrator/Help Desk Technician to monitor, troubleshoot, implement, and support technical systems and operations, and provide help desk support. The position applies proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues as part of our overall effort to provide the highest quality service in support of the organization’s operations. The IT department ensures adherence to standards for identity and access profiles across systems such as Active Directory, and GSuite , as well as other specialized applications such as Graphpad Prism, Flowjo, WinNonlin and many others. The successful candidate will get exposure to Enterprise class storage and virtualization technologies and will report directly to the Senior System Administrator and Associate Director of Operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Providing first and second-tier support for desktop, application server, storage and network systems with the use of a Ticketing system and Naverisk Automation
  • Monitoring the health and of core systems and productivity systems, e.g. GSuite, Cloud applications, virtual servers, third party applications, and email security appliances.
  • Participating in the design, planning and implementation of new Windows Desktops, Virtualized Servers and Networking Projects
  • Installation and management of productivity apps and multiple scientific applications
  • Participating in the planning and upgrading of existing systems and assisting in developing strategies for improvement.
  • Assisting in preparing detailed documentation of systems, services, applications, security, and controls
  • Assisting with the maintenance and operations of disaster recovery and backups as needed
  • Proactively research to find solutions before escalation


  • Two-year degree or equivalent education in systems administration, network administration or related. Certifications such as A+, Net+, Sec+ or MCSE preferred but not required
  • 2-5 years’ experience in a Network/Systems Help Desk role or customer facing technical support role


  • Experience administering users in Active Directory
  • Strong grasp of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Experience with implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products


  • Strong knowledge of network and PC operating systems and software application architecture as it relates to installation and management
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Windows 7 and 10, Windows Server, and some familiarity with application virtualization technologies and methodologies (VMware) is desired
  • Experience administering users in Active Directory
  • Strong grasp of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Experience with implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products
